THE LIGHT HAS COME!
My One Mind Foundation Christmas Presentation
On December 17th 2023 I was invited to speak as a guest for the annual online ONE MIND FOUNDATION Christmas Special. The topic/title was: THE LIGHT HAS COME! As I sat down to compose an outline for what I wanted to speak about, I first pondered what "The Light" actually was. What instantly followed was a divinely guided series of spiritual "downloads" along with a cascade of quotes from A COURSE IN MIRACLES to support them. The words literally poured into my mind as I fluidly passed them on to my laptop without any thought or effort. Here is what I received:
“The light has come,” is the title of Workbook lesson 75 from A Course In Miracles. So, what exactly is“the light?” What do these words really mean?
Well, there is a passage in the Course that helped me understand what “the light” is:
“Healing is not mysterious. Nothing will change unless it is understood, since light is understanding.” (T-9.V.6:4-5)
So, here we are told that the definition of “light” as being used by the Course here, is “understanding” which is also deeply connected to our healing.
What are we supposed to “understand” that brings about our healing?
We are to understand the truth.
And what is the “truth” according to A Course In Miracles?
The truth is, we are One Love, united in God and there is no such thing as separation between us.
Only this truth is true, and nothing else, because we are part of an eternal state of Being. The only thing that is real, is our eternal nature as part of God’s Wholeness with Him and each other, through Him. Anything else that appears separate from us is a false, or “unreal” perception. And there is nothing that can ever undo our state of Wholeness or holiness.
The Course states this truth in this way:
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God. (Preface)
We have all heard it said that “we are One,” many times and in many different ways.
But do we believe these words? Do we really feel what they mean? Has “the light” or “understanding” truly come to us?
We know if it has, by the level of peace that we feel.
According to A Course In Miracles:
“You have one test, as sure as God, by which to recognize if what you learned is true. If you are wholly free of fear of any kind, and if all those who meet or even think of you share in your perfect peace, then you can be sure that you have learned God’s lesson, and not your own.” (T-14.XI.5:1-2)
So, how do we reach a state of such total and complete understanding of our Unity that we are at peace with every human being our lives have ever touched?
That sounds impossible. So incredible, it would take a miracle.
Which is exactly what the Course calls the process of forgiveness we are being taught.
The process does not actually ask us to “do” anything – it is actually a process of “undoing” that takes place in our mind, which clears away what is blocking the light. Everything we thought we knew about what we see outside of ourselves, must be let go of in order for us to uncover what is hidden within us; the light within our heart that shines away all that is not peace.
This means we must clear away all negative, fear-based thoughts from our mind. We must let go of all judgment. Any thoughts containing resentments, grievances, guilt, anger, or even mild irritation. The list could go on and on – name whatever your problem is, and I guarantee it will be attached to a fear-based thought form, or it would not be a problem for you.
These thoughts seem impossible to clear from our minds. The harder we try to “let go” the more these thoughts seem to cling or are merely replaced by new fear-based thoughts.
How do we manage our day-to-day trials, much less the “big problems” that side blind us out of nowhere, such life changing illnesses, injuries, divorces, material losses, abuse, and deaths in our lives – just to name a few.
Here too, the Course gives us instruction on exactly how to handle our painful thoughts about the world. It states:
“Here is the quick and open door through which you slip past centuries of effort, and escape from time.” (T-18.7:3)
“There is no statement that the world is more afraid to hear than this:
I do not know the thing I am, and therefore do not know what I am doing, where I am, or how to look upon the world or on myself.
Yet in this learning is salvation born. And What you are will tell you of Itself.” (T-31.V.17:6-9)
In yet another section it states this again:
“When your peace is threatened or disturbed in any way, say to yourself:
I do not know what anything, including this, means. And so I do not know how to respond to it. And I will not use my own past learning as the light to guide me now.” (T-14.XI.6:6-9)
And in another section the Course says:
“Yet the essential thing is learning that you do not know.” (T-14.XI.1)
And so, we can lay down every thought that pains us by simply realizing we cannot see the truth through the body’s eyes. All our eyes show us is separation, conflict, differences, and fear. Our bodily eyes cannot see the truth of our Oneness. This is because our Oneness is not in the physical, but rather, in Spirit.
Therefore, it is not seen with physical eyes – it is felt through the heart, where the Home of Spirit rests.
We move from physical sight to the heart’s eyes or Christ Vision through extending a miracle.
The Course states how we can do this through its definition of what a miracle is:
“A miracle…merely looks on devastation, and reminds the mind that what it sees is false. …For fear must slip away under the gentle remedy it brings.
A miracle… ends the strange distortions that were manifest. Now is perception open to the truth. Now is forgiveness seen as justified.
Forgiveness is the home of miracles. The eyes of Christ deliver them to all they look upon in mercy and in love.
The miracle is taken first on faith, because to ask for it implies the mind has been made ready to conceive of what it cannot see and does not understand. …A world more real than what you saw before; a world redeemed from what you thought was there.” (W-Section 2:13.What Is a Miracle?)
So when “the light has come,” it means we understand that we do not know what anything is in truth because it is hidden behind false separate, forms – our bodies and every form of physical matter around us.
Through acknowledging “we do not know” what anything looks like in truth, as part of God’s One Holy Light, we let it go. We clear the old image from our eyes, by trusting in the truth of our Wholeness within.
To think about the world in this light, is true forgiveness.
To truly forgive through remembering our Oneness and clearing all else from our mind, is to extend a miracle. And with this miraculous thought, we are healed of our thought of separation, and a new world is free to be seen by our cleared mind, shining in the light of our Father’s everlasting Love. You are then, truly a miracle worker, doing the Will of God on earth as it is in Heaven.
And so, my beloved, mighty miracle workers, as we move into this Christmas season and a new year, I leave you with these words from the Course:
“Peace to all seeking hearts today. The light has come to offer miracles to bless the tired world. It will find rest today, for we will offer what we have received.” (W-345.2:1-3)
“Perception rests, the mind is still, and light returns again. Vision is now restored. What had been lost has now been found. The peace of God descends on all the world, and we can see. And we can see!” (M-19.5:9-13)
